Setting up Metricool MCP with Claude takes under 5 minutes and works on every Claude plan, including the free tier. Once connected, Claude can read your social media analytics, schedule posts across 10+ platforms, find your best posting times, and pull competitor data — all in plain language, without you opening the Metricool dashboard.
This guide covers the full Metricool MCP setup for Claude web, Claude desktop, and Claude Code, plus the main things the connector lets you do once it’s active.
What is Metricool MCP?
Metricool is a social media management platform covering Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, Facebook, X, YouTube, Pinterest, Threads, Bluesky, and Twitch — plus campaign data from Meta Ads, Google Ads, and TikTok Ads. The Metricool MCP is the official server that connects your Metricool account to any AI client that supports the Model Context Protocol, including Claude.
Once connected, you simply ask Claude whatever you need about your social networks, and it communicates with Metricool on your behalf — pulling real numbers from your account rather than generating generic responses. The data Claude accesses is exactly what you’d see in your Metricool dashboard.
One important distinction: Metricool also has a built-in feature called MetriLAB AI, which is Claude embedded directly inside the Metricool interface. The MCP is different — it’s the layer that lets you use Metricool from inside Claude, rather than the other way around.
What you need
- A Metricool account (any plan, including free)
- A Claude account (any plan — remote MCP custom connectors are available for Claude Free, Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise plans. The only limitation for Free users is that they can use a single custom connector at a time)
- Nothing to install
Metricool MCP setup: Claude web and desktop
Step 1. Open Claude at claude.ai or in the Claude desktop app. Go to Settings → Connectors.
Step 2. Click + and select Add custom connector.
Step 3. Name it Metricool and paste the MCP server URL:
https://ai.metricool.com/mcp
Step 4. Click Save, then Connect. Claude opens a browser tab for OAuth — sign in to your Metricool account and approve access.
Step 5. Return to Claude. The connector is now active.
Note for Claude Desktop users: due to an external bug that does not allow users to connect Claude Desktop to Metricool’s MCP in the usual way, there is an alternative solution using mcp-remote. If the standard setup fails on Claude Desktop, open Settings → Developer → Edit config and add the server manually to your claude_desktop_config file. Metricool’s help documentation covers this workaround in detail.
Metricool MCP setup: Claude Code
For Claude Code, the setup is a single terminal command:
bash
claude mcp add --transport http metricool https://ai.metricool.com/mcp
Enter the /mcp command in Claude Code to see your active MCPs and select the Metricool one. When you press Enter, it will show that authentication is required to connect. Complete OAuth in the browser window that opens, then return to the terminal.
Alternative: Token-based authentication
If OAuth doesn’t work in your setup, you can authenticate with your Metricool credentials directly. Find your METRICOOL_USER_TOKEN and METRICOOL_USER_ID in your Metricool account settings, then add them as environment variables in your MCP configuration. This method works for JSON-configured clients and automated pipelines.
What Metricool MCP lets Claude do
Once connected, you can ask Claude in plain language to:
Read your analytics — follower counts, engagement rates, reach by platform, post-by-post performance, and period comparisons. Claude pulls numbers directly from your Metricool account, so the data is always current.
Schedule and manage posts — create new posts for any connected platform, set a specific date and time, or use Metricool’s best-time recommendation. You can ask for it to go out right away, schedule it for a specific date and time, or use the optimal time based on your account data. You can also update already-scheduled posts within the same conversation.
Check best posting times — Claude uses your Metricool data to tell you when your specific audience is most active, rather than giving generic platform averages.
Pull competitor data — if you’ve set up competitors in Metricool, Claude can surface their performance data for comparison in the same conversation.
Manage multiple brands — if your Metricool account has multiple brands, Claude lists them and works with whichever one you specify in each conversation.
Prompts to start with
Open a new Claude chat with Metricool connected and try:
“Show me my Instagram performance for the last 30 days — reach, engagement, and top 3 posts.”
“What’s the best time for me to post on TikTok based on my audience data?”
“Schedule this caption for tomorrow at 10am on Instagram and LinkedIn: [your text]”
“Compare my performance this month vs last month across all platforms.”
“What did my competitors post last week and how did it perform?”
Plan limits to know
The MCP works with any Metricool plan, including the free account. Keep in mind that your Metricool plan limits still apply when using the MCP. For example, on the free plan you cannot query data older than 30 days or schedule more than 20 posts. Paid plans extend these limits.
The MCP does not add any cost on top of your existing Metricool subscription — you’re accessing the same data and features you already have, just through Claude instead of the dashboard.
Who this is for
Social media managers handling multiple accounts or clients who want to skip the dashboard and get answers through conversation. The time saving on monthly reporting is significant — social media managers have been the bridge between creative ideas and technical execution, spending hours manually moving text from a document into a scheduling tool, or checking spreadsheets to figure out which post actually performed well. In 2026, that friction is disappearing.
Content creators and small businesses who use Metricool for scheduling and want to pull performance data without navigating reports. If you know what you want to know, asking Claude is faster than finding it in the dashboard.
Anyone running a workflow that combines writing and scheduling — draft in Claude, schedule through Metricool, review analytics in the same conversation.
